REDUCING TENSION AT COAST REGION OF KENYA
DAYO funded by UNAOC-YSF in February 2013. The fund provides seed funding to outstanding youth-led initiatives that promote long-term constructive relationships between people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
The project supported Countering Violent & Extremism through capacity build and providing youths at risk with positive alternative to enable them to resist the lure to join extremist groups within three counties; Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi.
DAYO developed and performed plays, skits and poems that depicted the current social-political situation in satirical manner and provided information on citizen’s rights, intercultural and religious diversity, extremism, youth and constitutionalism among other issues. Performances and radio programs also was used as well as IEC materials to highlight the benefit of civic engagement political manipulation.
